HOW THE WORD OF GOD TRANSFORMED MY LIFE: A TESTIMONY BY SIMBARASHE MAKONESE

Encountering God's Presence through Scripture

INTRODUCTION

In January 2004, I embarked on a life-changing 40-day fast as guided by the Holy Spirit.

Little did I know that this spiritual journey would lead me to a profound encounter with the Word of God.

Allow me to share with you the testimony of how the Lord revealed Himself to me and transformed my life through His Word.

A DESPERATE PRAYER

During my fast, I felt a strong urging in my spirit to visit Cottage 593 in Highfield, a place where the late Professor Ezekiel H. Guti had experienced divine encounters with the angel of God.

Filled with anticipation, I fervently prayed, asking the Lord Jesus to reveal Himself to me in that sacred place.

With unwavering faith, I expected His divine presence to manifest.

A PROMISE AND IMPATIENCE

As I poured out my heart in prayer, the Holy Spirit spoke clearly to my inner being. The Lord said, "Prepare. I am coming to visit you at your house tomorrow at 6 pm."

Overjoyed, I returned home, spending the entire day eagerly preparing for the Lord's visitation. Yet, as the appointed hour approached, doubt crept into my heart.

I grew agitated and frustrated, questioning whether the Lord had deceived me with His promise.

THE STILL, SMALL VOICE

In my restlessness, I refrained from voicing my anger and disappointment.

1 Kings 19:11-12 (WEB)
"He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before Yahweh.” Behold, Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahweh; but Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake; but Yahweh was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake a fire passed; but Yahweh was not in the fire. After the fire, there was a still small voice."

Suddenly, a cool sensation filled the room, and I heard the Lord speaking in a gentle and quiet voice.

He said, "I will not reveal Myself to you in a physical form, but I will reveal Myself to you through the Word."

In that divine moment, my anger melted away, and I understood that God intended to reveal Himself through His written Word.

REVELATION THROUGH SCRIPTURE

From that point onward, I embarked on a journey of discovering profound revelations within the Scriptures.

As I diligently read through the entire Bible, the Lord inspired me with insights and teachings that I had never encountered before.

These revelations continue to pour into my heart, even to this day.

THE POWER OF THE WORD

Armed with the Word of God, I witnessed the transformative power it held. On one occasion before this experience, I encountered a group of backslidden young men.

As I shared the inspired words from Scripture, their hearts were stirred, and they wept, returning to their faith in Christ on the spot.

Another time later in 2007, during an all-night prayer, I shared a specific verse that had been revealed to me.

The moment those words left my lips, an overwhelming power surged through the room, causing everyone, including myself, to fall to the floor.

THE UNITY OF SPIRITUALITY AND SCRIPTURE

Throughout the years, I've come to realize the inseparable connection between true spirituality and the Scriptures.

Genuine spirituality is deeply rooted in the Word of God. Without the foundation of Scripture, one cannot truly experience a profound spiritual journey.

Conversely, without a spiritual connection, Scripture remains a mere collection of words.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, my life was forever transformed when I encountered the Word of God.

Through His divine guidance, I discovered that true spirituality is intertwined with the Scriptures.

As we immerse ourselves in His Word, we open ourselves to revelations and experiences that can profoundly impact the lives of others.

Let us embrace the Word of God as the foundation and standard of our spiritual journey, allowing it to shape and guide us towards a deeper relationship with our Creator.

2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.' Scripture is the foundation and standard of true spirituality."
